Tub

Colvin LOVES the tub. I'm convinced that she constantly tries to climb the stairs to get up to the bathroom so she can go stare at the tub and ...wait. Wait for us to fill it and put her in. Then she splashes and smiles the entire time she is in it. Unlike Ryan, she doesn't mind a bit if you pour water over her head. But I digress.
This post is about a time when there was not any water in the tub. Ryan was going potty and I set Colvin up to stand outside of the tub and play b/c then she is content. After Ryan finished, we went over to wash his hands and Colvin was just out of sight. All of a sudden, I heard a muffled thud. I peeked around the doorway to find Colvin, slightly dazed and attempting to right herself...INSIDE the tub. Yep. She took a tumble head first into the bathtub as she tried to reach for something inside. Not a peep. Tough cookie. Later I saw a little red mark on her forehead (where she apparently landed).

Colvin's New "I'm cute" Face

This is her latest. Hopefully she doesn't use it on us for too many years as I think she could get away with murder right now when she makes it at Dan or me. Luckily, at 10 months the worst we have going is dropping things off the side of her highchair and some screeching. Lest we get too comfortable, however, she proving to be smart. She is rounding a corner in the sign language department (started doing the "real" sign for more and now does: milk, eat, and drink) and learned to use her new sippy cup in a day!

Attention Grabber

Today after work, I walked upstairs and was getting the rundown from
Sharis on how the day went. She told me that Ryan was being mean to
Colvin and was hurting her multiple times throughout the day. I turned
to Ryan to ask him why he was doing that:

Ryan: "Because I just wanted attention."

At least he is honest.

Melting Snow

We have had above freezing weather for 2 or 3 weeks now but the snow
has failed to melt in our yard. It's a bit odd being outside in short
sleeves and 60 degree weather with snow on the ground.

Can You Turn On My Wind?

That is what Ryan asked me the other day as we were driving and I had
my window down. He wanted his window down as well.

Trains

We found a Barnes and Noble with a train set in Eden Prarie - one of
ryan's favorite things to do when we were in Chicago. We were having a
tough time tracking down a train set to play with.

Molten

The other day we were driving in the car and Ryan must have told me he saw "molten" about 10 times as I tried to figure out what on earth he was talking about. Finally, I asked him if he could say it to me another way so that I could understand what he was talking about. He thought for a moment and said, "Fing's comin'". Clever boy.

More Milk

Colvin has been very reluctant to use sign language for some reason...Dan and I think maybe she just wants to jump right into talking. I've been much more insistent lately, though, because she screeches and screams to get my attention and her way. She's been using the sign for "more" for a couple months now (to which Ryan always corrects, "No Bay-Colven. This means 'clap' and this means 'more'.") But today, for the first time, she put two signs together and asked for "more milk". I was so proud and she LOVED the praise (reminds me of my nephew!).

Colvin has really brought such joy to our family. She is so sweet and extremely tolerant of all that her big brother does to lovingly torment her throughout the day. She's a tough cookie, but also very snugly and loving. I think this has alot to do with the fact that she's been sick quite a bit so far in her young life and so I've cuddled her more. She is very attached to me, which I am loving...so far. I couldn't ask for a better temperament from her and love watching her grow and learn every day. We are approaching 10 months so quickly (where has the time gone?). Such a fun age and stage!
