"Goodnight Chicago, Sleep Tight. Thank you for sharing a wonderful day."

Colvin is exactly 3 months today. We are leaving the only home either of our children have ever known. It is a sad goodbye and one that I will not soon forget. I have loved everything about our home here and though, for me, we are entering the unknown...I'm sure we will make fabulous new memories that I will cherish. So much emotion. It's difficult to capture really. So for now, just goodbye and thank you-to everyone who made our lives in Chicago so very special...you know who you are ; )

Last Run

Shoosh shoosh shoosh shoosh
The sand slips between my feet and the pavement along the lake path.
Heading South.
Goodbye Sears tower, so proud and prominent, gleaming in the morning sun.
Fullerton is behind me now.
Goodbye Lake Michigan, you filthy body of water you.
My typical "easy" Chicago Marathon training route.
Goodbye morning tractors that smooth out the sand, anticipating a crowded North Ave beach day.
Halfway through my run now.
Goodbye random workout, massage, and Chicago Tribune stands along the path.
My longest run since Colvin's birth.
Goodbye huge construction project at the zoo that I will never see completed.
Ew, swarm of gnats, pfu pfu...I won't miss that.
Scuff scuff scuff
Goodbye runners in the opposite direction.
Rounding North Ave bridge.
Goodbye path along inner Lake Shore.
Oh, the construction reroutes me and I must go further north and cut through the zoo.
Goodbye Lincoln Park Zoo and animals.
How amazing is it that we've lived 5 blocks from a free zoo during most of our Chicago lives?
Goodbye brownstones, and gardens and closed LP Hospital on Webster.
Almost home now.
But soon it will be someone else's home.
I enter the door and a lump enters my throat.
The tears follow shortly.

Saying Goodbye

Since I was pregnant with Ryan, I have been looking forward to the day when we would head downtown and play in the Crown Fountain at Millennium Park. We squeezed in a visit just before the big move. He LOVED it!! I can't believe we didn't do this more...it is more for the tourists, I suppose.
*Click the images to see more from our adventures downtown (The Bean, Buckingham Fountain, and a Chicago dog).

Both families came into town for Colvin's Baptism, which coincidentally also fell on Ryan's birthday. Thanks all for being a part of the festivities. We continue to be touched by the sacrifices of our families. It was a fun and blessed weekend!!
